Collierville awards FY26 street-resurfacing contract to Standard Construction; board authorizes up to $3M threshold

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted Oct. 13 to award the town’s FY2026 street resurfacing contract to Standard Construction, the lowest of four bidders.
"Standard Construction was the lowest bidder at $2,958,313, with the alternate bid of $428,058," Assistant Public Works Director Clay Tyser told the board during his presentation of the FY26 resurfacing program. He said 18 vendors were solicited and four bids were opened Sept. 17.
Board members discussed whether the motion included alternates and the funding threshold for awarding work. Tyser said staff would attempt to keep award activity under a $3,000,000 threshold. "If we can do it all under the $3,000,000 threshold, we will. If not, we're just gonna do the base bid," he said. A motion to approve the contract award was made, seconded and approved on roll call.
Board members requested staff re-send the specific list of streets included in the resurfacing program so members can review the target locations and priorities.
Why it matters: awarding the contract initiates resurfacing work on local streets and sets a budgetary and procurement path for which streets are prioritized and funded. The contract award will move to procurement/contract administration for execution.
What's next: staff will provide the street list to board members and proceed with contract award and scheduling as allowed within the board’s funding direction.
