Collierville approves $77,100 contract to repair clearwell at Water Plant No. 3

COLLIERVILLE — The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a contract Monday with DN Tanks LLC for repairs to the clearwell at Water Treatment Plant No. 3 after staff reported cracking identified in a 2023 inspection.
Public Utilities Director John Fox told the board the clearwell, built in 1983 and holding 1,000,000 gallons, showed cracking in a concrete column and along the east wall that could allow water infiltration. DN Tanks submitted the lowest responsive bid at $77,100, which is $27,900 under the FY‑26 budgeted amount of $105,000.
Fox said the town has included unit pricing in the contract to address any additional repairs discovered after the tank is emptied; such work would be handled through change orders. He noted that previous remote underwater inspections sometimes missed cracks that became apparent once a tank was emptied and pressure‑washed, but that an inspection shortly before the recent ice storm showed few cracks and staff do not expect substantial additional work.
Alderman Jordan asked whether contractors would return to negotiate if more repairs were needed; Fox responded that additional scope would be handled with a change order and unit pricing provided in the bid.
The board moved, seconded and approved the contract on roll call; staff said any unused funds will return to the utility fund after completion.
