The Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Jan. 12 elected Alderman John Stamps to serve as vice mayor for a one-year term running from January 2026 through January 2027.
Town Administrator Miss Maynor explained the town charter requires the board to elect a vice mayor each January. Alderman John Stamps was nominated from the floor and accepted. The board approved the nomination by roll-call vote; Mayor Frazier said he was "so happy" to have Stamps continue as vice mayor.
The vice mayor serves in the mayor's absence and presides as needed; the board will hold the position for the stated one-year term.
