Collierville board approves interior-painting contract for multiple town facilities; low bidder named

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Feb. 3 approved a construction-services contract to paint multiple municipal facilities, including police headquarters, public services and fire stations.
Public Works Director Josh Russell told the board that $173,000 was budgeted in FY26 for painting; procurement notified 17 vendors, 11 requested bid documents, five bids were received and two were rejected. Russell said Alexander Construction LLC was the lowest apparent bidder and that the total bid price was well under the $173,000 budgeted amount. "They come in, they move everything, they paint everything, and they bring everything back in," Russell said of the turnkey bid.
Board members asked clarifying questions about which parts of the buildings would be painted and scheduling; Russell said the police headquarters work has been done in phases and that the project will be coordinated so multiple related facility upgrades (including an upcoming flooring bid) can proceed as a single project. The motion to approve the painting contract was made, seconded and approved by unanimous roll call.
Work is planned for police headquarters, public services and fire stations 1, 2 and 5; staff will follow up with scheduling and any procurement finalization required before work begins.
