Collierville approves TDOT utility-relocation contract for Wolf River bridge project

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted Jan. 12 to approve utility-relocation contract No. 9585 with the Tennessee Department of Transportation for a project associated with replacement of Wolf River bridges.
Public Utilities Director John Fox told the board the town must relocate an 8-inch sanitary sewer force main that conflicts with the new bridge alignment. He said the project "qualifies for TDOT's Chapter 86 utility relocation program, which allows for up to a 100% reimbursement of eligible costs, capped at $2,500,000." Fox provided the town's engineering consultant's opinion of probable costs and explained environmental work and preliminary engineering are complete; TDOT plans to bid construction in December 2026.
Fox also said the total project budget is approximately $1,485,372.40, including a 10% contingency of about $135,000, and that $1,415,553.80 is eligible for reimbursement under TDOT policy; the remaining roughly $69,818.60 would be the town's responsibility for non-reimbursable items in the public right-of-way.
Alderman Jordan moved to approve the contract; the board approved the motion by roll-call vote.
What happens next: with the contract approved, staff will proceed with TDOT coordination and reimbursement paperwork as the project advances toward a 2026 construction bid schedule.
