At the meeting the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of contracts and requisitions across departments. Significant items approved included:
• Item 563 — Change order #2 to contract 2023‑160 (Hessie, Gay, Bell & DeYoung) for Sigman Road phase 4 preliminary engineering: $1,593,721.23; SPLOST funded. (Approved.)
• Item 564 — Memorandum of understanding with Covington Fire Department and Newton County Fire Rescue to use a public safety training facility at no cost for the term 11/10/2025–12/04/2025. (Approved together with item 563.)
• Items 565–574 and 576 — Multiple contracts/requisitions including Alliant Insurance Services (benefits broker, no cost to county), Troy University educational partnership (MOU), Arborserve (grinding yard debris), PE Structures change order for Wheeler Park ($96,265), Crown Castle tower lease escalations, Magnet Forensics software renewal ($6,720), InfoTech ERP workshop, security awareness training ($27,216), firefighting equipment ($57,722), playground repairs, and other budgeted items. (Approved in a grouped motion.)
• Item 575 — Southeastern Security Professionals requisition for badge readers and access control at Rockdale Water Resources (8 badge readers; requisition amount cited as $39,310.61). Staff explained this is under an existing unit‑price contract; the board approved the requisition in a separate vote.
Motions to approve these items were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote; the chair called for aye votes on each motion and the motions carried.
