County approves $2.28 million contract for low‑voltage work at judicial complex

The Rockdale County Board approved on Jan. 27 an 18‑month contract with NetPlanner Systems for low‑voltage work at the judicial complex in the amount of $2,278,981.93, funded from the Judicial and Administrative Complex (JAC) fund.
Director Hammer (speaker 12) explained that low‑voltage work — cabling, fiber, data systems and wireless access points — is typically provided by the owner rather than the general construction contractor and that these items were included in the project budget. Director Hammer said the county had included a representative from Technology Services on the evaluation committee and that the contract award falls within the available budget.
The board approved the contract on a motion and voice vote. Director Hammer confirmed the scope and budget alignment and that security and network integration reasons are why low‑voltage work is procured separately from general construction contracts.
The contract will now proceed to procurement closing and project scheduling with vendor coordination overseen by General Services and Technology Services.
