A Rockdale County resident told the Board of Commissioners during public comment that she has reported loud weekend noise from a location up to two miles away from her home every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for about six years and that police responses have not stopped the recurring nuisance.
"Every weekend for this entire end for this entire 6 years, we've had to call in a noise complaint ... After 6 years, that's mentally draining," the resident said, describing repeated calls, videos and the emotional toll of ongoing disturbance.
Chair (speaker 1) acknowledged prior communications with the resident and said the sheriff is aware of the situation. "So, possibly in the next week, we we could maybe meet with him and see what his ideas are," the chair said, adding that the county's noise ordinance prohibits music after 10 p.m. and that "we will look to this year for enforcement of the ordinance that's in place." The chair said staff would follow up with the sheriff and with enforcement steps.
The resident said she had written letters and contacted sheriff's patrol; staff and commissioners did not specify a particular enforcement action at the meeting beyond meeting with the sheriff and pursuing enforcement under the existing ordinance.
The exchange was limited to the resident's account and the chair's pledge to confer with law enforcement; no formal directive, timeline for enforcement action, or changes to the ordinance were announced during the meeting.
