"It was unexpected on our part as well," a staff member said, adding the team typically notifies staff by email a week in advance and again the day before work but that this particular schedule notification did not occur in time.
The presenter said the crew minimized impacts and did not intend to close the street for more than the short pour. He acknowledged the communications lapse and said they will "do our best to try and glorify people in the future," noting he could not promise perfect advance notice for every short, weather- or logistic-driven operation.
Committee members pressed for a clearer notification policy and praised staff's efforts to limit duration of closures while acknowledging practical constraints with certain short-duration construction tasks.
