The Andalusia City Board of Education approved several personnel actions at its Jan. 5 meeting, including a resignation, status change, temporary hires and a supplemental coaching appointment.
The board accepted the resignation of Teresa Torres, cafeteria worker at AES, effective Dec. 16, 2025. It approved a change of status for Steve French from custodian at Andalusia High School to maintenance worker at Andalusia City Schools, effective Jan. 6, 2026.
The board approved new hires and temporary appointments: Leigh Anne O'Ferrell as a temporary second-grade teacher at AES (effective Jan. 6 through May 29, 2026), Melinda Prosser as an AES cafeteria worker retroactive to Dec. 16, 2025, and Brian Washington as a temporary custodian at AHS (effective Jan. 6 through May 29, 2026); the appointment of Brian Washington was approved "pending certification" per the transcript. The board also approved Tyler Nunnelley as assistant varsity girls basketball coach at AJHS; the position is paid by boosters.
The transcript records the motions and approvals but does not supply numeric vote tallies or additional hiring conditions beyond the noted pending certification for one hire. The board will meet next on Feb. 2, 2026.
