Mountain Brook Board approves budget amendment, salary schedule and routine items in unanimous vote

Dr. Richard Barlow, superintendent, opened the business session and asked for nominations for board officers. Mr. Daniel Odrezin nominated Mrs. Jenifer Kimbrough for president and Mrs. Anna Comer for vice president; the nominations were seconded by Mrs. Anne Schilleci and approved unanimously.
The board approved the minutes of the May 19, 2025 regular meeting and the May 20, 2025 called meeting on a motion by Mrs. Anna Comer, seconded by Mr. Daniel Odrezin.
Mrs. Kari Austin, Chief School Finance Officer, presented the financial statements for the month ending May 2025; Mr. Daniel Odrezin moved to approve the statements as submitted and the board voted unanimously to approve.
Austin also presented the Fiscal Year 2025 budget amendment, which she described as the first and only amendment for the fiscal year. Mrs. Anne Schilleci moved to approve the amendment, seconded by Mrs. Anna Comer; the motion passed unanimously.
Other approved items included the 2025–2026 Mountain Brook Schools Board meeting calendar (motion by Mrs. Anna Comer, second by Mrs. Anne Schilleci), approval of personnel recommendations (motion by Mrs. Anne Schilleci, second by Mrs. Anna Comer), and approval of surplus items (motion by Mrs. Anna Comer, second by Mr. Daniel Odrezin). All motions were approved unanimously.
On the salary schedule, Mrs. Austin told the board that proposed pay raises would take effect in July for 12-month employees, August for 10-month employees and September for 9-month employees if approved. Mr. Daniel Odrezin moved to approve the 2025–2026 salary schedule, seconded by Mrs. Anne Schilleci; the motion was approved unanimously.
