Mountain Brook board hears facilities updates; Cherokee Bend stage made ADA accessible

Director of Facilities Tommy Prewitt reported ADA upgrades at Cherokee Bend, HVAC and playground improvements at Brookwood Forest, library and auditorium work at Mountain Brook Elementary, and hallway renovations at Crestline; the board received the report and no vote was required.
Tommy Prewitt, director of facilities for Mountain Brook City Schools, told the board the stage at Cherokee Bend is now ADA accessible and that crews installed a new ceiling, lighting, sound system, carpet and a storage room behind the stage.
Dr. Richard Barlow, superintendent, introduced the facilities report and said other projects are complete or underway across the district. At Brookwood Forest Elementary the 6th‑grade hallway received new air‑conditioning units and the school’s playground was expanded with funds provided by the PTO. At Mountain Brook Elementary the library renovation is finished and includes stepped seating and a new circulation desk; the school’s auditorium received a new acoustical system and lighting. Crestline Elementary’s hallways were updated with LVT flooring, new ceilings, lighting and paint. Prewitt also reported that the Technology office at the Central Office building is undergoing remodeling.
Board members did not take formal action on the report; the presentation was received and recorded in the minutes. The meeting adjourned at 3:45 p.m.
