Senate dispenses with readings, refers dozens of items to committees and sets Jan. 13 reconvening

The Senate Secretary announced a Capitol Police orientation and an evacuation drill for Tuesday, Jan. 13; senators were asked to attend the orientation in the House before returning to the Senate chamber for the drill. Pursuant to a joint order, the Senate moved to adjourn until Jan. 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., or to the call of the president and the speaker.
