Resident seeks county support for May Green-Up; officials note opioid outreach airing on Mountain Lake PBS

Steve Waite of Schuyler Falls asked the Legislature to support a Green-Up volunteer cleanup scheduled for May 18, 2019. County Administrator Michael E. Zurlo said he spoke with Highway Superintendent Karl Weiss, who indicated the Highway Department participates in the Adopt-a-Highway Program and could provide vests, signage and pickers for volunteers working on county roads.
Legislators praised Waite's initiative and expressed hope the project could become a county-wide model. "Legislator Dame thanked Mr. Waite for his efforts…" the minutes record, and Chairperson McManus said the initiative could serve as a template for other towns.
In liaison reports, Legislator Simon Conroy said the Community Services Board discussed the opioid crisis's effect on youth and foster-care needs. Zurlo noted that Substance Abuse Prevention and Recovery of Clinton County (SPARCC) is sponsoring an outreach documentary, "Addicted to Hope," to be broadcast on Mountain Lake PBS on Jan. 25 and available for municipalities and school districts that wish to present it.
