Clinton County Legislature approves package of resolutions; amends Casella contract to serve Public Defender's Office

The Clinton County Legislature voted unanimously, with one excused member, to approve a block of resolutions during its Jan. 23 regular session in Plattsburgh. The recorded result on multiple items was "Carried (9-0-1)."
Among the items approved was Resolution #34, a contract amendment with Casella Management of NY, Inc., which County Administrator Michael E. Zurlo said was amended to include services at the county's newly created Public Defender's Office. Zurlo told the Legislature that Public Defender Jamie Martineau will appear at the February Personnel Committee meeting to discuss related staffing and operations.
The Legislature also approved Resolution #53, an after-the-fact contract with Rene's Repair, Inc., to replace a Modine heater that malfunctioned and required immediate repair to prevent freezing of pipes in a section of the Highway Department, Zurlo said.
Legislator Mark Henry moved earlier in the meeting to accept the Jan. 9 minutes; the motion to accept minutes was seconded by Legislator Christopher Rosenquest and carried (9-0-1). Toward the end of the session, Legislator Robert Hall moved and Legislator Mark Henry seconded a motion to waive Rule 13.2; that motion also carried (9-0-1). Chairperson Harry McManus adjourned the meeting at 7:31 p.m.
The approvals covered routine county business and committee referrals described earlier in the meeting. Several resolutions were reported as polled by committee before being placed on the agenda; the meeting minutes list specific committee meeting dates for follow-up where applicable.
