County procurement staff read bids for the 2026 road department equipment package and for construction of a Department of Health, Human Services and Inspection Center. Staff reported “Total cost for 2 trucks, 433,400” for two Kenworth trucks and a separate ancillary package that was read into the record as $1,196,332.60. For the building project, staff read base bids and alternates from five bidders; examples included AML (base bid $2,464,400 with listed alternates) and Martin Construction (base bid $3,500,000 with alternates).
The board moved to take the road department bids under advisement and later voted to accept the apparent low bidder for the building project “contingent on review and approval by Tower Pinkster, [county] staff, [and project manager]” to ensure the bidder is the lowest, most responsive. Chair called for the vote and the motion carried.
On related facility procurement, staff reported two quotes for county government center furniture; the low quote from Starlight Design was $41,526. Commissioners voted to proceed with the Starlight Designs quote. For elevator maintenance at 3317 Grand Line Road, staff recommended quarterly service from Murphy Elevator Company at $195 per quarter over a monthly $100 option; the board approved the Murphy quarterly service.
