Cramerton introduces new parks director and appoints five to economic advisory committee

The Cramerton Board of Commissioners on Aug. 15 introduced Brandon Free as the town’s new Parks & Recreation Director and recessed briefly so commissioners and staff could meet him.
Following the introduction, Town Manager Zach Ollis thanked department heads for their work. Ollis also reported that the Cramerton Economic Development Advisory Committee (CEDAC) held a second meeting on Aug. 14 and said staff had received five applications for committee membership: Sam Walters, Cam Carpenter, Chris Poor, Kim Gauze and Trey Daughtridge. Commissioner Ramsey moved to appoint the five applicants to CEDAC; Commissioner Helms seconded and the motion passed 5–0.
Why it matters: filling the parks director role restores leadership for parks operations and programming. Adding members to CEDAC advances the town’s efforts to coordinate economic development advice and review potential projects.
The board also acknowledged a letter from the governor's office honoring Graham Bell and thanked staff for recent behind-the-scenes support for the concert series and for installing a water fountain at the basketball courts.
