Cramerton board approves Riverlink grant support, trail sign MOU and temporary lights on Goat Island

The Town of Cramerton Board of Commissioners approved several staff recommendations and motions in unanimous recorded votes during the April 6 meeting.
Riverlink Extension Rural Transformation Grant: Staff recommended the Board approve a resolution supporting an application for the Rural Transformation Grant to fund the Riverlink Trail Extension. The Town will apply for the full amount offered by the grant program, up to $950,000. Commissioner Atkinson moved to approve the resolution; Mayor Pro Tempore Neeley seconded. The vote was recorded as 5 to 0 in favor.
Carolina Thread Trail sign program MOU: The Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Carolina Thread Trail to update and expand trail identification signage and associated maps. The cost to the Town is $4,267, to be covered by the Parks and Recreation budget. Commissioner Kincaid moved to approve the MOU; Commissioner Helms seconded. The motion passed, 5 to 0.
Illumination on Goat Island: Mayor Nelson Wills asked the Board to investigate installing donated solar lights on the western side of Goat Island visible from Eighth Avenue. Staff said the lights could be installed temporarily for one month to solicit public feedback before any permanent placement. Commissioner Atkinson moved to have staff install the donated lights on a trial basis; Commissioner Ramsey seconded. The vote was recorded as 5 to 0 in favor. Discussion included confirming appropriate authority approvals and how staff would measure and solicit feedback.
Other routine actions: Earlier in the meeting the Board adopted the amended agenda (motion by Mayor Pro Tempore Neeley; second by Commissioner Helms) and approved the consent agenda (motion by Commissioner Helms; second by Mayor Pro Tempore Neeley), both recorded 5 to 0 in favor. The meeting adjourned at 8:48 p.m. by motion of Commissioner Atkinson, seconded by Commissioner Helms (vote 5 to 0).
