Ferron council approves bank-signer change, hears donated City Hall work offer and arena/fairgrounds update

At the Feb. 11 meeting Ferron City Treasurer Jacque Wilde asked the council to remove former Councilmember Laramie Morgan from city bank accounts and add Councilmember Mike Behling as an authorized signer; Councilmember Gerry Stotler moved, Ray Petersen seconded and the change passed on a roll-call vote.
Contractor Jeff Strahan offered to donate labor for shelving and related renovations in City Hall’s safe room after the original project lost funding. Councilmembers agreed to clear and secure the room and named Barb as the city point of contact to coordinate timing and storage. Councilmember Gerry Stotler volunteered to assist with shredding and office oversight during the work.
Councilmember Mike Behling gave a progress update on the new arena and fairgrounds improvements, reporting that concrete crews and rebar installation were expected the week of Feb. 16 and that a tested nearby dirt source might lower hauling costs if samples pass. Behling said the project will include a 50-foot flagpole and that staff will replace flags that become ragged; he and Councilmember Ray Petersen discussed fencing between spectators and the arena and relocating a roll-up door to improve covered access near livestock areas. Behling also said the county offered agricultural scales if the fairgrounds can provide space, which could support year‑round community and agricultural use.
The council approved payment of warrants by roll call and adjourned at 8:34 p.m.
