Terri Bennett, representing the MECCA Mountain Bike Club, told the Ferron City Council on Feb. 11 that the club draws racers and trail users from Emery County and beyond and supports trail stewardship and youth safety programs. Bennett described three mountain-bike-focused trail systems in the county and said MECCA partners with land managers on trail repair and public-lands events.
Councilmember Ray Petersen moved to donate $250 to MECCA to support the May 1–3 festival at the Buckhorn RV Resort; Councilmember Gerry Stotler seconded and the motion passed on a roll call vote. Bennett said MECCA promotes helmet safety, supports high-school biking clubs and is beginning to accommodate Class 1 (pedal‑assist) e-bikes with education on proper use.
Councilmembers also discussed possible MECCA participation in Peach Days and a September bike rodeo; Councilmember Kellee Singleton said she would follow up with event coordination.
