Two drivers for Clinton County Public Transit addressed the Legislature on April 25 urging the county to consider taking over CCPT and expressing concern about a pending vendor change.
Joe Gittens, identified as a CCPT bus driver, told legislators he supports a county takeover of the transit system and is fearful that a proposed change from McDonald Transit, Inc. to First Transit, Inc. would be poorly received by operators. Tina Sullivan, also a CCPT driver and a Plattsburgh resident, echoed those concerns and urged legislators to consider county operation as an alternative.
The record shows the drivers' concerns were presented during the public comment period; the transcript does not include a county response committing to a change of operator, no motion to alter vendor arrangements was recorded, and no vote followed the public comments.
