Fulton County declares March 2026 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Fulton County Commissioners on Feb. 24 approved a proclamation declaring March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and recognized local providers and residents for their work in supporting people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
The proclamation, approved on a motion by Commissioner Hervey P. Hann, commends the observance and states, "March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and do commend this observance to all of our citizens and recognize that Fulton County becomes a better place when people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities, and knowing we are all One World, many Abilities!" Several local service providers and residents attended the signing, and a group photo was taken.
Human Services Director Julie Dovey and representatives from Occupational Services Inc., CRI, Full Circle Residence, Lupey Behavioral Services and The Arc of Franklin/Fulton Counties were among those present. The commissioners recorded the proclamation in the minutes and took no additional formal action beyond approval and the ceremonial signing.
The item required no follow-up vote; the county will observe the month through the organizations present, the proclamation states.
