The council initially proposed $500 and then amended the motion to provide $800 total to be split among attending students; the amended motion carried.
During both items councilors emphasized wanting youth engagement in return — volunteers for community projects, flag‑filling and other service activities — and asked staff to coordinate how donated funds would be distributed and how students would report their community‑service contributions.
The council’s votes were recorded on the meeting floor and both allocations were approved as part of the consent/disbursement process.
