Cramerton approves consent agenda; board reviews bylaws draft and public art program

The Cramerton Board of Commissioners approved the consent agenda on March 2, 2023, by a 5-0 vote, adopting a resolution supporting expansion of the Piedmont NC by Train and a resolution authorizing signers to conduct business on behalf of the Town of Cramerton.
Mayor Pro Tempore Neeley read a proclamation recognizing March as Women’s History Month. Town Attorney Karen Wolter presented three draft documents to standardize advisory board practices — a code of ethics, a bylaws resolution to replace the current ordinance, and an appointment policy — and requested commissioner feedback; the documents will be revised and returned for a vote at the next meeting.
Town Manager Zach Ollis described a draft public art program and said staff will pressure‑wash sidewalks but will not remove storm‑drain art; he intends to use the draft presented at a recent special meeting as a starting point for formal policy. Commissioners discussed staff workload, youth feedback from the special meeting and options for permitting new public art.
Separately, commissioners reported back from the Town and State Dinner, where they met state representatives and discussed funding priorities including connectivity projects. Mayor Nelson Wills noted positive early results from a new four‑way stop at 8th Avenue and 10th Street. Staff are coordinating with the North Carolina Department of Transportation on a right‑turn lane on N. Main Street and paperwork for the Timberlake sidewalk is signed and ready for the contractor to begin work.
