The Cramerton Board of Commissioners voted to approve a contract with Stephen Austin to serve as grant administrator for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Baltimore Village Neighborhood Revitalization project.
Assistant Town Manager Josh Watkins said the town advertised the request for proposals initially in the Gaston Gazette and later in the Hickory Record after receiving a single response. Staff also sent direct notices to roughly a dozen qualified professionals across the state. Watkins said staff determined Stephen Austin was qualified to administer the grant. The proposed contract would pay $88,500 for administration services, and the fee would be paid from the CDBG grant award rather than local funds.
Commissioner Kincaid moved to approve the related consent motion, Mayor Pro Tempore Neeley seconded, and the board approved the consent items 5-0. Attorney Karen Wolter had recommended removing the community committee appointments from the consent agenda to allow time to prepare new bylaws; the board agreed to address those appointments at a future meeting.
