Hudson Library Foundation asks Macon County for $350,000 toward $1.5 million renovation

Representatives of the Hudson Library Foundation asked the Macon County Board of Commissioners to consider a $350,000 county contribution toward a $1.5 million renovation and expansion of the Hudson Library.
Andrew Chmar and Philip Curcuru presented a breakdown of the project budget: $590,000 for exterior work and $910,000 for interior improvements. The foundation representatives said the county contribution would be part of a larger funding package to complete the renovation.
Chairman Josh Young said the request should be reviewed as part of the county’s budget-planning process, and County Manager Warren Cabe said he would discuss the proposal with the foundation during budget development. No formal county funding commitment was made at the Dec. 9 meeting.
The foundation’s request will be considered as staff develops the county’s 2026 budget recommendations and presents funding options to the board.
