Clinton County Legislature unanimously backs state support for veterans' service agency funding; several routine resolutions approved

The Clinton County Legislature on May 23 unanimously approved a resolution urging the New York State Legislature to amend the Executive Law to better support the maintenance and operation costs of Veterans' Service Agencies.
Legislator Pete Keenan moved Resolution #424; County Administrator Michael Zurlo told the chamber the measure is being passed by many counties and is supported by veterans' associations. The resolution carried 10-0-0.
The Legislature also approved Resolution #423 reappointing Gregory B. Campbell as Board of Elections Commissioner; the motion was seconded by Legislator Patty Waldron and carried 10-0-0. Legislator Simon Conroy commented that Commissioner Campbell had been helpful to him during his campaign.
Several other resolutions on the meeting agenda (#394–#395 and #397–#428, where noted) were approved either by voice or recorded vote with no extended debate. The meeting included standard committee scheduling and liaison reports. Following an executive session to discuss labor negotiations, personnel matters and claims, the Legislature returned to approve an amendment extending the county's Fixed Base Operator contract at the airport.
