House Bill 12-77 passed on March 4, 2026, continuing the Kidney Disease Prevention and Education Task Force beyond its original sunset date so it can finish recommended outreach and implementation work. Sponsors highlighted partnerships with the National Kidney Foundation and the task force’s work to promote screening and equity in transplant access.
Representative Leader moved the sunset continuation and thanked task-force members and partnering agencies. Supporters said the task force has not completed its prescribed responsibilities and recommended additional time to implement public-awareness and screening strategies.
The House passed the sunset continuation on a voice vote; the action will allow the task force to complete remaining work and coordinate with agencies referenced in the Department of Regulatory Agencies sunset report.
