Hanford planning director announces vice chair resignation, seeks applicants for three vacancies

The Hanford planning director told the commission on Dec. 9 that Vice Chair Douglas is resigning and solicited applications to fill current and upcoming vacancies on the Planning Commission.
The director said the commission currently faces three vacancies: the vice chair's seat, a seat vacated because an alternate (Commissioner Morris) has recurring work conflicts, and a third seat created by the expiration of Commissioner Curtis's term at the end of the year. Staff asked members to publicize the openings and said the city council is expected to act at its first meeting in January to fill the positions. "We've opened up the opportunity for individuals to apply," the director said.
Commissioners discussed the timing and that the commission may briefly operate with fewer members until the council acts. Staff said reorganization of chair and vice chair will occur after appointments are confirmed.
The meeting adjourned with commissioners exchanging new-year wishes; no further action on vacancies was taken at the meeting.
