Frenship staff outline strategic-plan teams, digital-citizenship work and CTE linkages

Keith Patrick presented the board’s first strategic-plan update for the school year, summarizing team-led work on technology, professional development and career-exploration goals.
"This is our first strategic plan update for the school year," Patrick said, outlining teams and task leaders and noting that work now centers on data gathering, focus groups and how to coordinate district-wide activities. He referenced technology competencies from ISTE and said the district has already adopted a resource (learning.com) and is building a technology playbook and student competencies.
Patrick described three broad strands: awareness at the elementary level, exploration in middle school and preparation in high school, and emphasized coordination with CTE scheduling so students can move into programs of study. He said teams are surveying principals and staff to find gaps and align resources.
A board member announced a local partnership with a Texas Tech professor that will lead to an introductory course: "We are next fall going to teach foundations of AI," the member said, adding the district will start with basic, hands-on concepts to prepare teachers and students.
Patrick and presenters invited questions and said they would continue community focus groups and staff engagement as planning moves toward implementation. No formal board action was taken at the update.
