Friendship Foundation reports more than $163,000 in grants; prize-patrol gave $80,000 in September

Tiffany Taylor, speaking for the Friendship Foundation, told the Frenship ISD board the foundation provided more than $163,000 in support last year through two main initiatives: teacher grants and character scholarships. "Last year alone, the foundation gave over a $163,000, through our two main initiatives," Taylor said.
Taylor said teacher grants accounted for more than $76,000 the prior year (50 grants that impacted more than 86 teachers across 15 campuses) and that a September Prize Patrol distributed more than $80,000 in 57 grants, reaching more than 90 teachers across all 16 campuses for the first time since the presenter began tracking this metric. She described classroom uses: tricycles for early childhood adaptive PE, a nearly $6,000 aquatic science grant to support hands-on freshwater and marine lessons, an ancient Egyptian dig kit for gifted-and-talented classes, and plant-growth carts for second graders.
Taylor also described fundraising: the foundation ran its longest-standing fundraiser, a golf tournament that produced a net profit of more than $100,000; foundation donors and local businesses (about 30 participated in the Prize Patrol) fund the teacher grants. She said family and community donations in memory of a longtime coach raised approximately $1,300 in honor gifts.
The foundation report was informational; the board did not take action on grants at this meeting.
