During the Jan. 12 work session the Ware County Board of Commissioners considered three resolutions to be added to the regular meeting agenda.
Board of Elections Supervisor Carlos Nelson presented Resolution 2026‑01, which sets qualifying fees for upcoming elections—fees listed in the minutes include $144 for County Commission (Districts 1 and 3), $1,714.79 for Solicitor and $216 for Board of Education districts 4, 5 and 6—and reported that the county hosted the Region 14 meeting with attendees including the State Board of Elections chair and an elections director from Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger's office.
County staff also reviewed Resolution 2026‑02 to authorize submission of a Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) grant application for $129,185 to the Prosecuting Attorney's Council of Georgia for federal funding through the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. The board was also briefed on Resolution 2026‑03, which would authorize a Memorandum of Understanding with the Georgia Recreation and Park Association for participation in the BOOST 2.0 program and a $45,000 grant to support out‑of‑school time services. All three resolutions were added to the regular meeting agenda for formal consideration.
The work session did not include final approvals; the resolutions will return to the regular meeting for formal action.
