Oceana County board approves parks capital transfer, Region 6 mutual aid pact and voucher payments

Chairperson Robert H. Walker convened the meeting and the board unanimously approved the transfer of $25,000 from Fund 288 (Parks and Recreation) to Fund 408 (Parks and Recreation Capital Projects) to cover asphalt and concrete work at county parks, a motion moved by Commissioner Paul Erickson and supported by Commissioner Craig Hardy. The board adopted the motion on a roll call vote with Erickson, Hardy, Joel McCormick and Walker voting yes.
The board also approved a Region 6 Mutual Aid Agreement for emergency management, a contract-style agreement drafted by the Kent County emergency manager and reviewed by Kent County legal. "The agreement includes a cost-recovery component and allows participating counties to refuse assistance if providing aid would harm local readiness," said Troy Maloney, Director of Oceana County Emergency Management, during committee presentation.
The board reappointed James Cunningham to the county Jury Board for a six-year term ending April 30, 2031, and approved payment of the accounts payable batch presented at the meeting. The board minutes record a grand total of $431,298.80 for the voucher batch presented to the board meeting; the Finance & Administration Committee record lists a related claims batch of $181,974.19 for committee-level claims review.
