Plano ISD winter MAP results show districtwide growth; eighth‑grade on‑level math posts notable gains

Spencer said district averages for reading, math, science and language usage were at or above the 50th national percentile and that conditional growth percentiles (which compare students to peers with similar prior achievement) showed particularly strong results: 27 of 37 measures (73%) were at or above the 50th percentile. He highlighted on‑level eighth‑grade math growth, which increased from roughly the 41st percentile in fall to the mid‑60s in winter for the on‑level cohort.
District instructional leaders described how teachers use MAP data in collaborative teams to set SMART goals, guide small‑group instruction and connect students to computer‑assisted instructional programs aligned to MAP. Presenters noted the district’s progress shows winter‑to‑winter growth across cohorts and encouraged continued interventions ahead of spring testing.
Trustees asked for growth data broken down by quintile and for correlations between mobility (newcomers/leavers) and growth; presenters said such reports (PGR reports by quintile) exist and can be shared in future board updates.
Next steps: District leaders will use MAP data to inform targeted interventions and share further disaggregated growth reports with the board.
