Plano ISD trustees accept clean audit, approve ACFR for FY 2024–25

Trustees of the Plano Independent School District on Jan. 20 unanimously approved the district’s annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, after an external presentation by Weaver audit partner Jennifer Rybka.
Rybka told the board the firm issued an unmodified opinion — the highest level of assurance — and found no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies in the district’s financial reporting. “The most important thing is that you all received an unmodified opinion,” she said, adding that federal financial assistance testing also produced an unmodified opinion.
The ACFR presentation highlighted several financial metrics: governmental fund balances ended the fiscal year at approximately $1.5 billion, capital assets increased by $155.3 million primarily from ongoing bond‑funded projects, and total bonded debt stood near $1.1 billion with roughly $49.9 million in authorized bonds unused at year‑end.
Board members asked clarifying questions about Weaver’s tenure and the audit process; Rybka said she has served as engagement partner for six years and that the audit followed generally accepted auditing standards and uniform guidance for federal assistance testing. Trustees praised district staff for navigating a software conversion that coincided with the audit work.
Following the presentation, Board Vice President Nancy Humphrey moved and Board Secretary Tara Lance seconded approval of the ACFR. The motion passed 7–0.
