Crawford County Board unanimously approves EMS essential-service resolution, road agreements and equipment purchase

Attendees included representatives from local EMS providers and employees of CCMH. There were no written objections during the hearing, which the board closed at 10:22 A.M. On secondary roads matters, the board approved a Letter of Understanding with the Crawford County Secondary Roads bargaining unit to allow an alternate 10-hour workday schedule from May 8 through September 10. The motion to approve the LOU was made by Supervisor Schultz and seconded by Supervisor Muhlbauer and carried unanimously.
The board also approved the purchase of a 2023 CAT D5-17LGPV dozer from Ziegler CAT for $199,500, with a trade-in allowance of $90,000 for the county’s 2013 CAT D6T. The purchase was approved on a motion by Supervisor Rosburg, seconded by Supervisor Heiden, with payment scheduled for fiscal year 2027 pending budget approval.
In a related roads matter, the board approved the 2026 Dust Control Applicator Agreements with four contractors. That motion was made by Supervisor Muhlbauer, seconded by Supervisor Schultz, and passed unanimously.
On budget procedures, the board set a public hearing on the proposed property tax levy for March 31, 2026, at 5:30 P.M. in the Board of Supervisors’ board room on the second floor of the courthouse. Supervisor Heiden moved to set the hearing time and place; Supervisor Schultz seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The board approved township appointments for Morgan Township, appointing Rachel Jacobson as trustee and adjusting township positions so that Rachel Jacobson serves as clerk and Ross Wood serves as trustee. Those motions were made by Supervisor Schultz and seconded by Supervisor Heiden and were approved unanimously.
At 10:40 A.M. the board voted to enter a closed session under Iowa Code 21.5(j) to discuss possible purchase or sale of real estate; the closed session concluded at 11:04 A.M. The transcript records no public action or decision resulting from that closed session.
