Sheboygan County committee approves 2025 MS4 report, hires summer AIS intern and allocates non-lapsing funds
Summary
At its March 10 meeting the Sheboygan County Planning, Resources, Agriculture & Extension Committee approved the 2025 MS4 Report, authorized hiring a summer aquatic invasive species intern, approved two water-quality projects from non-lapsing funds (tabled one), and approved a $4,000 campground plumbing repair at the Marsh Restaurant building.
Chairperson Rebecca Clarke called the Sheboygan County Planning, Resources, Agriculture & Extension Committee to order at 3:30 p.m. on March 10, 2026. The committee approved a set of routine and programmatic items and adjourned at 4:19 p.m.
Aaron Brault presented the 2025 MS4 Report to the committee and took questions; Supervisor Henry Nelson moved to approve the report and Supervisor John Nelson seconded. The motion carried with no opposition. The committee did not record any dissent on the action.
Brault also presented a proposal to hire a summer aquatic invasive species (AIS) intern. Nancy Hanlon answered questions about the position. Supervisor John Nelson moved to approve the hiring request; Supervisor Henry Nelson seconded and the motion carried with no opposition.
Tyler Betry presented three candidate projects for expenditure from the Water Quality Non-Lapsing Funds. Supervisor David Otte moved to approve the second and third projects presented, table the first project, and directed department staff to develop a framework for evaluating future projects. Supervisor Joe Liebau seconded the motion; it carried with no opposition.
The committee approved using Campground Non-Lapsing Funds to address a plumbing issue at the Marsh Restaurant building. Aaron Brault presented the request; Supervisor Henry Nelson moved to approve $4,000 for the repair with appropriate budget assessments, and Ag Community Member Travis Luedke seconded. The motion carried with no opposition.
Sharon Harvey updated the committee on the department tree sale. Brault reported on possible future updates at the Marsh, progress on the Plymouth trail project, the retirement of a parks staff member and hiring to fill that position, and the hiring of a summer limited-term employee for the parks division.
No requests for attendance at other meetings or travel reports were submitted. Supervisor Joe Liebau moved and Supervisor John Nelson seconded approval of vouchers; that motion carried with no opposition. Travis Luedke moved to adjourn, Supervisor John Nelson seconded, and the meeting adjourned at 4:19 p.m. The committee’s next UW-Extension Focus meeting is scheduled for March 24, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
