Newport News honors Chief of Management Services David Freeman as he leaves for Franklin city manager post

City manager Alan recognized David Freeman for his service as Chief of Management Services and announced that Freeman has been selected as the next city manager for Franklin, Virginia.
Alan said the appointment "is a well deserved opportunity and a reflection of the experience and leadership he has built over many years in public service." He added council and staff would miss Freeman.
Freeman addressed the council: "It's been a great run over the last I didn't prepare a speech ... I've had the opportunity to work on a lot of great projects with some great people and, truly gonna miss everybody." Council members gave personal tributes and thanked Freeman for years of support, noting his participation in community events and staff coordination.
Council remarks also included thanks to community volunteers and organizers for city events and a reminder about upcoming community activities; members closed by wishing Freeman well in his new role in Franklin.
