Board approves interlocal bridge grant agreement, subdivision and ROW; discusses highway plan

At its Jan. 14, 2026 meeting in Auburn, the Nemaha County Board of Commissioners approved an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement to participate in a grouped Build Grant application for bridge projects with Howard County and other participating Nebraska counties.
Commissioner Bryan Mellage moved to approve and sign the interlocal agreement; Commissioner Michael Hall seconded the motion and the board approved it unanimously.
The board also adopted Resolution 2026-03 approving a subdivision for Albert H. Simpson Jr. (located in Section 36, Township 6 North, Range 13 East) and approved Right of Way Application 2026-01 from Nebraska Public Power District for a location at 733 Road/642 Avenue. Both motions carried on recorded votes.
In highway business, commissioners discussed the forthcoming One- & Six-Year Plan set for February and authorized participation in grouped grant applications intended to increase the county’s competitiveness for bridge funding.
On buildings and grounds, the agenda included a citizen concern from Suki Fischer about a low area in the courthouse yard and a discussion item about the old HHS building; the board reviewed those concerns but took no formal action at this meeting.
