Nemaha County declares surplus equipment, schedules courtroom ceiling bids and advances road and bridge items

At its March 11 meeting in Auburn, the Nemaha County Board of Commissioners approved several operations and infrastructure items: declaring county equipment surplus, ordering replacements for courthouse seating, scheduling a sealed-bid procurement for courtroom ceiling repairs and advancing highway work including a driveway agreement and embankment review.

On courthouse and facilities work, the board declared Capital Business copiers and an 80-gallon air compressor from Road District #3 as surplus, authorized removal of a pop/candy vending machine, and approved purchasing new bench seating for the main basement commons area. Sealed bids for the courtroom ceiling repair were scheduled to be opened on March 25, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.

Highway-related actions included a status update on Bridge #C006423450 (Box Culvert Project C-64(252) Nemaha Southeast) and a directive to begin the bid process for a road rebuild project. The board reviewed Bridge #01520 in District #3 and discussed fixing the south embankment. The Driveway Agreement for Jacob Baltensperger (Sec 31 T6N R13E) was approved; the Driveway Agreement for Merrill L. Fisher (72791 638 Ave, Auburn) was tabled to the next meeting.

All motions described above were moved and seconded by the two present commissioners and passed by roll call (Mellage and Weiss aye; Hall absent). The actions set procurement and follow-up tasks: sealed bids for the courtroom work, recording surplus equipment for disposition, and initiating bidding for road rebuild work.
