The Nemaha County Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution 2026-07 on Feb. 25, 2026, approving the county’s 2026–2031 One & Six Year Road & Street Plan. Chairman Michael Weiss opened a public hearing on the plan at 9:30 a.m.; the hearing closed at 9:45 a.m. and the board later voted to adopt the plan by roll call (Bryan Mellage, Michael Weiss, and Mike Hall voting aye).
The board acknowledged the Highway Superintendent’s update that Bridge #C006423450, part of Project C-64(252) in Nemaha Southeast, is scheduled to begin work on March 9. During the meeting the board approved a Right of Way application (2026-03) from the Omaha Public Power District at 722 Road and 650A Ave — a parcel the minutes note falls in the area of the box-culvert project — and approved a driveway agreement for Tim Goslin on 646A Ave in Peru. A driveway agreement for Merrill L. Fisher was tabled.
Commissioner Mike Hall moved to adopt the plan and Commissioner Bryan Mellage seconded; the motion passed on a roll-call vote. The board’s actions pair the formal adoption of the multi-year road plan with near-term project scheduling and several property-access decisions that will enable the scheduled culvert work.
The board’s notice and agenda identified the hearing and adoption for public review; two members of the public were listed as present during the hearing. Next steps noted in the minutes include following the county’s procurement and right-of-way procedures for construction and utility access related to the scheduled culvert project.
