CRA approves special-project funding for Greater St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church

Jamie Perkins, Neighborhood Services and CRA Manager, told the board the project had been approved in 2022 under the Lincolnville CRA but staff later discovered Greater St. Mary’s sits outside the Lincolnville CRA boundary. "This resolution is a proposition for this board to approve a historic funding for St. Mary's utilizing funds from the historic area, and reimbursing Lincolnville Community Redevelopment Area of the funds that were already expended for Greater St. Mary's," Perkins said during the presentation.
Perkins said the HACRA plan amendment includes language that allows special-project funding for historic preservation, which staff is using to justify the proposed reimbursement and funding path. A motion to approve the resolution was made and seconded; the clerk called the roll and the resolution was recorded as approved by the commissioners on the dais.
The approval clears the way for reimbursement of previously expended Lincolnville CRA grant dollars and for HACRA to fund the Greater St. Mary’s preservation work as a special project. No additional specifics about contract amounts or project timelines were included in the presentation.
Staff moved directly to the next agenda item after the vote; Perkins said she will continue coordinating project details with stakeholders and that formal budget adoption for related allocations will appear in the upcoming adoption process.
