The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners recorded multiple consent and administrative approvals on May 20.
Appointments and personnel: Commissioner Ben Adams moved, and Commissioner Cal Stiles seconded, to appoint Crystal Rumfelt to the Southwestern Child Development Commission; the motion passed unanimously.
Equipment and property actions: The board approved the sale of K-9 Arlo for $1,500; approved using rescue funds to purchase $4,050 worth of winches for the Peachtree Fire Department; declared 59 Hiwassee Street surplus and authorized advertising it with a minimum reserve of $485,000; and approved a resolution exempting the landfill mechanic building project from design services and the Architecture Unlimited Letter Agreement for design services. All these motions passed unanimously as recorded in the minutes.
Other administrative approvals: The board approved the 2026 State Holiday Schedule, the FY26 Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) Certification and Annual Plan, and approved Tax Releases, Tax Refund and NCVTS Refund reports. Motions on these items passed unanimously.
Why it matters: These routine actions dispose of assets, assign representation to local councils, and set administrative calendars and reports that govern county operations. They are standard items but collectively affect county staffing, property management and program administration.
What the minutes show and do not show: The minutes record motions, votes and dollar amounts where applicable but do not include full documentation (e.g., sale paperwork, appraisal details for surplus property or the Architecture Unlimited agreement). Implementation steps will follow standard administrative processes.
