Round Rock ISD trustees elect officers by acclamation; Markham remains president

At its Dec. 9 meeting, the Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees elected Alicia Markham president, Melissa Ross vice president and Michael Way secretary by acclamation and approved several consent items. Trustees also set dates for upcoming meetings and committee assignments.
The Round Rock Independent School District Board of Trustees elected officers by acclamation at its Dec. 9 meeting.
Trustee Weir nominated Alicia Markham for president; with no other nominations, the board declared Markham president by acclamation. For vice president, Trustee Weir nominated Melissa Ross after Trustee Zarate’s initial nomination of Amber Landrum went unseconded; Ross was declared vice president by acclamation. Trustee Weir nominated Michael Way for secretary; the board declared Way secretary by acclamation.
Board members approved consent agenda items K1–K8 by a roll-call raise of hands vote that passed 6–0. A separate consent vote on item K9 passed 5–0–1 (one abstention). Trustees also moved and passed a limit on a closed-session duration and later extended closed session by 15 minutes as the agenda required.
The board announced that a previously scheduled Jan. 15 called meeting is canceled, the regular January meeting will be Jan. 22 and Jan. 29 is being held for the superintendent’s evaluation. Committee assignments and a new trustee orientation committee will be distributed in January.
The board adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
