District assessment director Katie Braden briefed the board on the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR), reporting an accountability rating of 89, attendance of 94.6% and zero reported dropouts in the 2023-24 data; TEA reports and campus improvement plans will be posted on the district website.
Katie Braden, executive director of assessment, accountability and professional learning, presented Rockwall ISDs annual academic performance report produced by the Texas Education Agency.
Braden summarized the TAPR highlights for the 2023-24 school year: a district accountability rating of 89, a special-education determination of "Meets Requirements," attendance at 94.6 percent, and a reported dropout rate of 0 percent for the referenced year. She said participation in state assessments for grades with end-of-course tests was 99 percent and described how district scores compare to state and regional averages in reading, math, science and social studies. "We're very proud of the growth our students have shown," Braden told trustees.
Braden noted college, career and military readiness (CCMR) results are lagging indicators and that the report includes a summary of the class of 2024s college-enrollment outcomes; 42 percent of 2024 Rockwall ISD graduates enrolled in a Texas institution of higher education, she said. The TAPR and related campus and district improvement plans will be posted on the district and TEA websites when available.
Board members asked clarifying questions about score ranges for "Masters" level performance and how growth is calculated; Braden explained that mastery thresholds vary by assessment and that growth measures compare year-to-year performance in tested grades.
