Rockwall ISD board adds AP Microeconomics to 2026–27 academic planning guide

The change would not require an additional full-time equivalent position, Dr. Gist said, and counselors will continue to work with students and families to select appropriate courses. ‘‘The purpose of the academic planning guide or APG is to assist students as they plan their academic future,’’ Dr. Gist said during the presentation.
Board member Amy Hilton moved to adopt the academic planning guide as presented; Dr. Sherry Packer seconded. The board approved the motion by recorded vote (6 in favor, 0 against, 1 absent).
The addition of AP Microeconomics was described by administration as an administrative recommendation for the 2026–27 guide; no additional staffing or budget requests were attached to the motion. Trustees had no further substantive questions before the vote.
The board did not schedule additional hearings on the APG; the guide will be posted for student and counselor use as part of course planning for the coming school year.
