Madison County commissioners approved several routine administrative and operational items at their Feb. 3 meeting, including election mailings, equipment purchases and a reappointment.
Miss Lambert of the clerk's office requested approval of a Midwest presort mailing to registered households announcing vote‑center locations and times; the mailing cost is $26,735.40 and was described as already appropriated in the clerk's budget. The board approved the agreement by voice vote.
Commissioners also approved a request to appropriate $20,000 from the county's 440 fund line to cover a Motorola invoice and environmental monitoring at a tower site for statewide 9‑1‑1 operations; a commissioner made the motion and the board carried it by voice vote.
Staff reported switching generator service contracts to Buckeye, noting an estimated annual savings of around $7,000 and an avoided near‑term $40,000 generator replacement; the board accepted the power service/maintenance contract. The sheriff's department received approval to trade in a 2017 transport van and buy a replacement van for roughly $39,000 (after government pricing and trade‑in adjustments), with the sheriff's representative saying funds are available in the 440 account.
Other routine matters included the reappointment of Lisa Hobbs to the North Madison County Library Board and a motion to approve claims. The meeting closed after a motion to adjourn.
