Round Rock ISD bond dashboard goes live as $350M issuance funds 442 projects

Superintendent Dr. Aziz said the district issued $350 million in the first bond sale, which is funding 442 projects across campuses. Bond staff reported about $140 million in encumbrances or commitments to date and said the dashboard is live on the bond web page and is updated frequently.
Will Pinkerton demonstrated the dashboard drill‑down capability and the project details tab, which shows original budgets, committed amounts and timelines. Bond staff categorized projects as targeted (operational upgrades like ice machines and stadium lighting), limited scope (HVAC, roofs, playgrounds) and comprehensive campus projects (additions, major renovations).
Highlights included: • Stadium LED retrofits: district is replacing metal halide stadium lighting with 150‑lumen LED fixtures; staff said LEDs are ~60% more energy efficient and meet UIL recommendations for uniform foot‑candles. • District LED instructional retrofit: conversion of CFL fixtures to over 70,000 LED lamps in classrooms; incentives from Austin Energy and Encore are offsetting equipment costs; early campuses completed and next phases scheduled for January and spring. • Elementary furniture refresh: 15 campuses to receive new student and teacher furniture and boards, scheduled to be completed for teachers' return after winter break. • Instruments and fine arts: approximately $750,000 in instruments ordered, with phased deliveries for secondary and PK–5 inventories. • Transportation and water stations: bus deliveries and phased water bottle filler installations across campuses.
Bond staff also reviewed large campus projects in schematic or design development phases, including McNeil renovations (design development, estimated permit May 2026), Berkman Elementary addition and Round Rock High School master planning with a planned 140,000 sq ft addition. Erin Ortwan of Corgan presented the CTE Center phase‑1 programs and timeline, with a target opening in fall 2027.
Trustees asked for routine quarterly updates; staff said the dashboard plus quarterly board briefings will provide multiple public touchpoints for transparency.
