County approves lease for EMA storage at 1401 S. Jefferson St. after brief public hearing

HUNTINGTON — After a brief public hearing, the Huntington County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 1 voted to sign a lease for 1401 S. Jefferson St., a property used to store emergency vehicles and trailers.
Bob Jeffers, director of the county’s Emergency Management Agency, summarized the property and said it is used primarily for vehicle and trailer storage and is part of a joint lease with Parkview. Jeffers said the county has maintained a lease on the building for roughly 11 to 12 years. The public hearing opened at 8:49 a.m. and closed at 8:53 a.m.
Following the hearing, Commissioner Tom Wall moved to sign the lease; Commissioner Rob Miller seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously, recorded as a 2-0 vote. The commissioners did not discuss lease financials or term details during the meeting; the minutes record that the lease was placed on the agenda and approved.
The lease approval was recorded alongside several other routine items. The minutes for this meeting were later approved on Dec. 15, 2025; a signed physical copy of the minutes is available from the Commissioners’ Office.
