County to reclaim stone after turbine delivery; culvert on 300 South to be replaced

Commissioner Pooler told the Blackford County Council that Gadbury Road was closed this week to allow transport of turbine components for Turbine No. 3, and that contractors placed roughly 600 tons of stone to build the temporary access.
"A little over 600 tons of stone was put on that road to build it up so they could get over that home there," Pooler said, and he added the county would haul that stone to the transfer station for later use "for nothing." Pooler said county crews would perform the hauling and store the material for future projects.
Pooler also reported a collapsed culvert pipe on 300 South between 300 and 400 East. He said the county will close the road to replace the pipe and that the contractor (named in the transcript as Leeward) will reimburse the county for hauling and the pipe cost. "We'll be doing the hauling and everything for it...Leeward will reimburse us for all of our work and the pipe," Pooler said.
The council discussed the logistics and timing for moving the stone and replacing the culvert; no formal vote or contract award was recorded in the meeting minutes. Pooler characterized the stone reclamation as a net benefit to the county because the material will be available for future road projects.
